The winter bill of art, music, entertainment and traditional events in the town of Sorrento places itself also for the 2017/2018 season at the top of the national rankings for quality and attractiveness.
On November 18th, the lighting of the luminaries marks the beginning of the long Christmas period that enlivens the coastal town. The festive atmosphere, the numerous entertainment events provided for the whole of winter, all the way up the beginning of spring, ensure the many low season visitors, a wide range of possibilities to enjoy the best possible stay in Sorrento.
In addition to street artists and traditional Christmas markets, this year’s bill provides a respectable musical entertainment, ranging from classic Neapolitan folk to pop, from chamber music to jazz. Among which, the awaited concert of internationally renowned violinist Ara Malikian, an eclectic artist who condenses in his performances inspirations and influences ranging from classical music to melodies popular in the Middle Eastern tradition, without forgetting the masters of rock. The Sorrento leg of his event tour in Italy is scheduled for November 25th, the same evening in which all the citizens and tourists will be able to attend the usual lighting ceremony of the great Christmas tree in Piazza Tasso, with its glittering light show.
From November 26th, until the beginning of December, the International Film Days will attract on Sorrento’s red carpet the major representatives of the film industry alongside with award-winning actors and directors with the prestigious Golden Ticket, which celebrates the best box office sales. Giovanni Caccamo, one of the newest and most interesting voices in the Italian musical scene, returns on December 16th at the Convento dei Teatini. After the great success of past editions, the Santa Claus Village in the park of Villa Fiorentino will be opened once again, to welcome the children and not only, in a joyful and magical atmosphere, among handicraft and gastronomy stands, Christmas sceneries and entertainment shows for the little ones. Not to be missed are the exhibitions and shows concerning Presepial art, the true soul of popular devotion to Christmas.
